ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT NEW TARIFFS

Blantyre Water Board (BWB) has announced that the government has approved new water tariffs for Blantyre Water Board effective 16th June 2023. The new tariffs will apply for all customer categories except for Low Income Areas that are serviced through Kiosks whose tariff has not been adjusted.

The new tariffs are as follows:

  • For water supplied from communal water points or kiosks: 40 tambala

  • For water supplied for domestic purposes:

    1. For the first 5,000 litres or part thereof per month MK1.06
    2. Exceeding 5,000 litres up to 10,000 litres per liter (Rates applicable from 0 up to 10,000 litres per litre) MK1.13
    3. Exceeding 10,000 litres up to 40,000 litres per liter (Rates applicable from 0 up to 40,000 litres per litre) MK1.34
    4. Exceeding 40,000 litres per litre (Rates applicable from 0 to above 40,000 litres per litre) MK1.48
  • For water supplied to institutions:

    1. For the first 10,000 litres or part thereof per month MK2.41
    2. Exceeding 10,000 up to 40,000 litres per litre (Rate applicable from 0 up to 40,000 litres per litre) MK2.73
    3. Exceeding 40,000 litres per litre (Rate applicable from 0 to above 40,000 litres per litre) MK2.81
  • For water supplied for commercial purposes:

    1. For the first 10,000 litres or part thereof per month MK3.15
    2. Exceeding 10,000 up to 40,000 litres per litre (Rate applicable from 0 up to 40,000 litres per litre) MK3.47
    3. Exceeding 40,000 litres per litre (Rate applicable from 0 to above 40,000 litres per litre) MK3.81
  • For water supplied for industrial purposes:

    1. For the first 10,000 litres or part thereof per month MK4.41
    2. Exceeding 10,000 up to 40,000 litres per litre (Rate applicable from 0 up to 40,000 litres per litre) MK5.01
    3. Exceeding 40,000 litres per litre (Rate applicable from 0 to above 40,000 litres per litre) MK5.52.
